UNICO Café by Xian Qujiang South Lake is located at the southwest corner of South Lake Park. It underwent a light renovation by Guo Xin Spatial Design Studio. As a popular check-in spot in the park, its core design concept is to “handle the relationship between the building and the surrounding scenery with a simple and natural language, and realize the integrated expression of indoor and outdoor spaces”. In this project, U glass is not merely a decorative element, but a key medium connecting history and modernity, as well as heaviness and lightness.

U glass converts direct sunlight into soft diffused light, which not only avoids glare caused by strong light but also ensures uniform and bright indoor lighting, creating a comfortable coffee experience environment. This light characteristic complements the natural scenery of South Lake perfectly, enabling a smooth transition between indoor and outdoor spaces.
The most innovative design lies in the hidden color-changing light strips inside the U-shaped glass, which have transformed the original bathroom wall into a brand display surface:
- When lit up at night, the U glass becomes a full-wall luminous body, like an urban lantern;
- The color-changing function allows the building to take on different expressions in the night, attracting the attention of passers-by;
- Light filters through the translucent glass to form a soft glow, which blends seamlessly with the park’s night scenery.
