Shenfu New Zone is a newly developed national industrial park on the border between Shenyang and Fushun. Its openness and vastness are not different from most industrial park zones or economic development zones in cities in the plain of North China. Shenfu New Zone’s intelligent manufacturing park is the only industrial park invested by the government. It covers an area of 18,000 square meters, aiming to support industrial chains developed by intelligent manufacturing industries in Shenyang. While the technology center has only an area of 3,300 square meters within the 30,000-sqaure-meter start-up area, it takes multiple functions such as advertising, exhibitions, sales, business incubators, staff canteen, etc. In the future, it will also include more roles that are ever changing.

The Technology Center adopts double-layer tempered U profile glass as one of the main materials for its curtain wall, forming a multi-material combination with prefabricated fair-faced concrete hanging panels and standard glass curtain walls. This combination not only embodies the simplicity of industrial standardization, but also breaks the heaviness of concrete through the light-transmitting property of U profile glass, metaphorizing the theme of “interconnection” in intelligent manufacturing.

The cross-sectional design of the U profile glass (e.g., Model P26/60/7, with a face width of 262mm and a flange height of 60mm) enables it to bear its own weight without additional horizontal support, with a maximum span of up to 6 meters. This reduces the division of the facade and enhances the overall sense of transparency.

Based on a 45-degree rotated 3×3 grid, the architects integrated the installation modulus of the U profile glass with the depth of the building’s column grid. They optimized the joint structure through high-precision prototyping tests to ensure seamless connection between the curtain wall and materials such as concrete and weathering steel plates.
