Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base——U glass

Designed by the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University, the “Jade Reflecting the Bay” Exhibition Hall in Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base takes the form of a minimalist white box. It uses a raised ground floor and water features to echo the natural environment of Shenzhen Bay, emerging as an iconic landmark in the area.uglass uglass2

Interaction of Natural Light and Shadow: The diffuse reflection property of U glass creates subtle variations in light across different weather conditions and times of day. Interplaying with the water features on the ground, it forms a dynamic scene that evolves with nature.

Spatial Penetration and Integration: The translucent facade blurs the boundary between the interior and exterior of the building. It effectively connects the inner courtyard with the external landscape, and the raised ground floor enhances spatial transparency, fostering a closer bond between the architecture and its surroundings.

Expression of the “Jade” Concept: The white translucent texture of U glass perfectly interprets the design concept of “Jade Reflecting the Bay”. The building exudes the elegance of white jade at dusk, becoming a distinctive highlight in the city’s nightscape.

After dark, with interior lighting switched on, the U glass curtain wall transforms into a luminous structure. Combined with the building’s silhouette and its reflection in the water, it creates a unique spectacle known as “a piece of white jade glowing at dusk in the urban landscape”. The lighting design aligns with the architectural essence, amplifying the material beauty of U glass and the ambiance of the space.

In this project, U glass is more than just a building envelope material—it serves as the core medium to materialize the “Jade Reflecting the Bay” design concept. Through the seamless integration of material properties, light-shadow interaction and spatial design, it has created an architectural work that balances functionality and artistry, setting a benchmark for the application of U glass in public buildings.uglass3 uglass4 uglass5
