Shanghai Sanlian Bookstore · Huangshan Taoyuan Branch is located in Taoyuan Village, Qimen, Anhui Province, and it was rebuilt on the original site of a deserted village house. In this project, U glass is cleverly applied, adding unique charm to the bookstore.

The second floor of the bookstore serves as a reading area, a relatively enclosed horizontal static space. One side of the opening faces the old wall, while the other overlooks the fields. The window overlooking the fields uses frosted U glass, which diffuses the outdoor scenery. This design not only meets the need for inward focus (without clear outdoor views) during reading, but also allows readers to feel the hazy beauty of the fields, creating a quiet and focused reading atmosphere.

U glass is a new type of architectural profile glass with a “U”-shaped cross-section. It has advantages such as ideal light transmittance, heat insulation, thermal insulation, and high mechanical strength. Its application in Shanghai Sanlian Bookstore · Huangshan Taoyuan Branch not only demonstrates the innovation of building materials, but also achieves the harmonious integration of modern design and the traditional village environment.
